Aaaaaaaand.... It's over. My 5.25" drive has died. I'll be able to only do one or two of the newer games that also have 3.5" floppies packed in.
I may do the Infocom games through one of the various online web-based versions, but it just won't be the same.
My RetroChallenge entry this year is to do a writeup on a bunch of old DOS games I recently picked up. So here goes.
What is there to say? I've been a huge Flight Sim fan forever (I've owned every version new since 3.0,) and just got a nice boxed copy of the original Microsoft Flight Simulator. It plays nearly the same as 3.0-4.0, and even looks the same when played on CGA. Particularly fun is the old WWI Ace mode. The lack of having a joystick on my current test machine is hampering my ability to properly play it. Maybe I'll come back and take a second look toward the end.
What may very well be the "original" PC game, this is a simple PC port of the old "Colossal Cave", turned into a commercial product by Microsoft for the then-new IBM PC. It plays pretty much the same as any of the ilk, like Zork.
